Reading the Daily News - 10/20/2010

Many days I'm discouraged after reading the daily news. However, there are sometimes days like today that make it fun.

under category "wacky political wives": Clarence Thomas' wife "extends olive branch to Anita Hill" - asks Hill for an apology. Uh, I thought extending an olive branch would be "forgiving" Hill. As if Hill did anything wrong in the first place.

under the category dumb criminals: Danville man asks police for ride home, forgets about cocaine in pocket. Guess where he is now.

under the category of TSA make work: Pilot refuses full body scan. How many times a day do you suppose the TSA harasses people like the pilot? What a waste of time and taxpayer money. Al Qaida wins again.

under the category of wasting money: CERN scientists glimpse parallel universe breakthrough. Okay. With the billions of dollars they get, why don't they fix some of the problems in this universe first and let the parallel universe take care of itself?

under the category of rubbernecking at accidents: on TV, 'Jersey cast set for 4th year' Are people so desperate that they need to watch jerks in New Jersey make fools of themselves.

under the category of government boondoggle: Arizona opens high speed bridge to bypass Hoover dam. Why? So people in Arizona can get to Las Vegas quicker. Let me see, Arizona spends $240 million dollars so that their residents can take their money out of state quicker??? Why not legalize gambling in Arizona, save $240 million dollars, and reap the profits from gamblers?

under the category, "So what": Swiss archaeologists find 5,000 year old door

Then there is news of the weird : Moscow to open cemetery for the elite, Hitler becomes major tourist attraction in Berlin (talk about watching train wrecks), man in China gets his hand stuck in toilet reaching for his lost cell phone (guess where he lost it), UK woman fined for putting cat in rubbish bin.

Which is weirder? The "real news" or the "weird news"?
